The provincial director of the Philippine National Police in Aklan province sternly warned rogue policemen, especially those who are into illegal drug pushing activity in the province.
This after 33-year-old PO2 Edsel Tan, a resident of Timawa-Tanza Zone 1, Iloilo City and presently assigned in Aklan Provincial Public Safety Company, was arrested in a recent anti-illegal drug operation in Kalibo, Aklan.
APPO director Sr. Supt. Cornelio Defensor said he would never allow the shameful activity of any police officer in the province under his command. He further said that a certain individual involved in illegal drugs has no room in the PNP organization.
“I will not tolerate any illegalities involving policemen in this province since we are committed in pursuing transformation towards a more effective, efficient and credible police force in this province,”said Defensor.
Defensor said the recent buy-bust operation that was conducted late afternoon of Thursday last week in Kalibo, Aklan was just a part of its intensified anti-illegal drugs campaign in cleansing the ranks of the PNP of misfits and making Aklan a drug-free province.
The anti-illegal drugs operation jointly made by operatives of Aklan Provincial Intelligence Branch Office (PIBO) and Kalibo Police Station conducted at the Ceres Bus terminal along Osmena Avenue in Barangay Estancia, Kalibo has led to the arrest of PO2 Tan.
Pieces of evidence include one heat sealed transparent plastic sachet of suspected shabu; two pieces P500-bill marked money; one caliber 9mm Pietro Beretta bearing serial number P62350z (PNP property) with one magazine loaded with 10 cartridges; one leather inside holster; one unit Nokia cell phone 6682 containing text messages of illegal drug transactions; one black wallet containing one piece P500-bill (unmarked money), PNP ID, BIR ID, RAIDSOG ID; one piece Mercury Drug wallet containing P1,000-peso bill; one P500-bill; four pieces P100-peso bill and one piece P50-peso bill; one piece transparent Donewell plastic bag containing several pieces of small transparent plastic sachets, among other drug-related paraphernalia.
Prior to Tan’s fall, a successful test-buy along Rizal Street in Kalibo town proper, netted a lady pusher Ethyl Ann Fabiosa , 27, of Barangay Balintawak, Escalante, Negros Occidental but presently staying at Oyo Torong Street in the town proper.
She was caught red-handed while in the act of selling a piece of heated sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu to a police asset.
During an investigation, the 27-year-old Fabiosa tagged PO2 Tan as supplier of the highly prohibited shabu, thus, a follow-up operation was initiated that led to the arrest of the police officer.
Defensor said criminal raps for violations of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 has been filed against Fabiosa and PO2 Tan who are presently detained at the lock-up cell of Kalibo PNP station.
