City Mayor Mauricio Domogan on Monday congratulated the Philippine National Police (PNP) for their successful ‘Oplan: Balik-eskuela,’ a nationwide program to fully safeguard the welfare of millions of Filipino students this new school year.
In this mountain resort serving as an educational center north of Manila, thousands of pupils and students reported to their schools but Domogan observed no traffic problems which are normal during first day of classes.
Uniformed and non-uniformed policemen are now also around and inside school campuses to assist security guards in maintaining peace and order as as well as watch for possible criminal elements who might take advantage of young pupils.
As early as last week, policemen and volunteers have undergone drills on how to deal with first day of classes when children and their parents go to school.
Meanwhile, Police Chief Superintendent Benjamin Magalong, regional director of the Police regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR), also reported that classes have started orderly and peacefully in the provinces of Benguet, Abra, Mountain Province, Kalinga, Apayao and Ifugao.
