Baguio-based newsmen and lawyers on Wednesday commemorated the second anniversary of the “Maguindanao Massacre” through prayers and tree planting at the tree park of the Baguio Convention Center.
National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) chapter president Arthur Alladiw said the 57 tree seedlings planted signify the death of the 57 persons in that massacre, which remained to be the most numerous death in a single event of a politically-motivated violence.
Similar prayers will be held Sunday at the Brown Madonna on the Rock Shrine through the sponsorship of the National Correspondents Club of Baguio (NCCB), led by former city councilor Nars Padilla.
Alladiw said that he and rest of the mediamen were hopeful for the resolution of the case the soonest possible time.
