The European Commission is offering funding of European-ASEAN partnerships on health, climate change, food safety, ICT, energy, and green industry, among others.

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) IV-A is thus initiating calls, under the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7), in and around the Calabarzon Region for project proposals on the same.

The DOST said that the European Commission has made available some €5.31B for the year 2011 for 39 project proposals. An additional 15 calls for €1.74B that will be issued from 2011 to 2012.

Two major calls were issued by the Commission on July 20 worth €654M with focus on health. The Commission is strongly emphasizing the participation of local SMEs and the medical technologies sector as an ongoing Private-Public Partnership together with a European company/ research partner.
