The Productivity Enhancement Incentive (PEI) or “extra bonus” of the 2,907 regular employees of the Iloilo Provincial Capitol will be given to them before December 25, this was confirmed by Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr.
Each employee will receive a minimum of P25,000 incentives, apart from their 13th month-pay.
Defensor admitted that the release of employees’ PEI has been delayed since they are still waiting for the guidelines and circular order from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
“We could not adopt last year’s guidelines. There might be some new guidelines in releasing PEI following the change of the administration and DBM head,” he said.
The governor, however, said he will call for a special session with the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) if new guidelines are not yet released before Dec. 25.
Defensor said he does not want to commit the mistake made by the previous provincial government in the giving of extra bonuses.
To recall, the Commission on Audit (COA) has declared as illegal the P35,000 14th month pay given to each capitol employee in 2002 and the P50,000 bonus released in 2009.
