The Province of Antique has launched anew the Gulayan sa Paaralan Project to combat malnutrition.
In a briefing conducted by the Department of Agriculture Region 6 Field Office, Provincial Agriculturist Nicolasito Calawag said the program is vital not only to attain food sustainability but also to support the extensive efforts of government agencies, multi-sectoral groups (private/civil society) and families to eradicate malnutrition.
It can be recalled that Antique is one of the provinces in the country with high incidence of malnutrition.
Through the five-year Agri Pinoy Program of DA, all the 528 public elementary and high schools will be given assistance to implement the Gulayan sa Paaralan project, said Felicidad Neturada of DA RFU 6.
It is a community-school food production project, a collaborative endeavor of DA, Department of Education and local government units meant to support government’s hunger mitigation and poverty alleviation efforts.
