The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) announced that it has turned over a check amounting to P96,000 to a woman’s group in Barangay Bayanihan, San Narciso, Quezon province undergoing livelihood training under the agency’s Self-Employment Assistance-Kaunlaran (SEA-K) program.
DSWD Secretary Corazon Juliano-Soliman said the money will be used to help poor families put up livelihood projects such as livestock and fish raising, vending or sari-sari store.
The check was formally handed to Zheena Fontanilla, head of the Bayanihan women’s group.
The amount to be received by each beneficiary is payable within two years without interest.
The group submitted a project proposal for such project last July. It was finally approved by the DSWD on August 15.
Soliman also said that as of Sept. 10, a total of 570 families in three towns in Quezon province were given livelihood loan assistance by the DSWD through SEA-K program.
The recipients were 350 families in San Francisco, 140 families in Buenavista, and 80 families in San Narciso.
