The Santiago City Police Office (SCPO) started training 72 civilians to be partners of the police in maintaining peace and order in the city other than the barangay tanods.
Police Sr. Supt. Severino Abad, Jr. city police chief, said the police auxiliary unit would come from the 37 barangays (villages) and were chosen by the SCPO according to their physical fitness and the ability to assist the barangay tanods and the police.
The civilians will undergo a 15-day training at barangay Balintocatoc in this city.
At least three to four police auxiliary civilians in each barangay will undergo the training to be conducted by the police.
He said the peace and order program of the SCPO of involving civilians aimed to have direct partners of the police in the barangays in case there were criminal activities happening in the barangays that will immediately help to resolve criminal cases.
