Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog gave President Benigno Aquino III a perfect score of “10″ for delivering a comprehensive State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday.
Mabilog said that the President was able to clearly get his message across, especially on his anti-corruption campaign.
“What can you do in two years time? But people now believe in him that he is really serious and committed to his campaign on the anti-corruption,” he said.
The city mayor was one of the local chief executives (LCEs) invited to witness the SONA at the Batasan Complex in Metro Manila.
He said he even stood up and clapped when Aquino called for responsible parenthood.
“His announcing of the responsible parenthood means that he also listens to the clamor of the church, he is not being blind,” Mabilog explained.
He also defended the President for not including in his SONA his position on the Freedom of Information Bill (FOI) and the plight of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
He said that probably, Mr. Aquino would like the FOI to be thoroughly studied while the programs are already in place as far as OFWs are concerned.
“If there is anything more that should be added to work for OFWs are direct flights coming from abroad going to the locality where they live,” the mayor said, adding that President Aquino has even enumerated the international flights that should be opened which surely would be a great help to OFWs.
