The gun license of former Mayor Carlos Cabangal Jr. of Banate, Iloilo might be revoked after he allegedly illegally discharged his firearm recently.
Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) director Senior Supt. Gil Lebin said they are now checking Cabangal’s records with the Philippine National Police (PNP) Firearm and Explosives Division at Camp Crame.
Aside from revocation of gun license, Lebin said the former mayor’s permit to carry firearm outside of residence (PTCFOR) will be revoked too.
Lebin said Cabangal’s involvement in the illegal discharge of firearm is enough for them to request for the revocation of his license.
“Licensed gun holders should be emotionally and psychologically fit for the responsibilities that go with owning a firearm,” he said.
Last Friday, Cabangal, of Taft St., Bularan, Banate, shot a bus driver following a traffic altercation along Brgy. Dangulaan, Anilao, Iloilo.
The victim, 42-year-old Rolando Adriatico, driver of HPQ bus management was injured in his right arm from the suspect’s caliber .45 pistol. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
