The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has opened its satellite office here on Wednesday, two days earlier than scheduled, after the blessing and inaugural rites of the new facilities at the Calamba City hall complex.

Calamba City Mayor Joaquin Chipeco Jr. and Vice Mayor Severino Lajara welcomed NBI officials, led by Deputy Director for Regional Operations Atty. Reynaldo Esmeralda and NBI Calabarzon Regional Director Atty. Rustico Vigilia as the agency’s Biometrics Clearance System started operations.

Mayor Chipeco remarked that “the city of Calamba is very fortunate in this auspicious occasion, for what was just a dream in 2008 is now coming true.” He thanked former NBI Director Magtanggol Gatdula, a Calambeño, who was instrumental for the establishment of the facilities where nearby towns and cities in the Calabarzon region can now benefit from its services here.

The mayor also thanked the NBI officials for choosing Calamba to house the satellite office where “people no longer have to travel that far” to secure an NBI clearance. The NBI presence also boosts the city as the regional government center of the Calabarzon region which comprises Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon.

Laguna’s 2nd District Representative Justin Marc Chipeco lauded the “NBI’s kind of service that helps our constituents to be closer to our government, as we try our best to make things easy for all of us here.”
