House Deputy Speaker Rep. Beng Climaco-Salazar of District 1 has set aside P3 million from her Priority Development Funds to train residents, the jobless and the needy in vocational skills that will help them establish livelihood project in their communities.

The fund will be coursed through the Technical Education Skills and Development Authority (TESDA) that will conduct vocational trainings for the beneficiaries in her district.

She said the recipients of the projects are selected residents from Barangays Talisayan, San Roque and San Jose Cawa-Cawa, in the west coast of the city.

On the other hand, school-based trainings will be conducted at the Immaculate Concepcion Archdiocesan School (ICAS) in Tetuan and Zamboanga National High School West.

Courses and trainings that are currently opened in the communities include housekeeping, commercial cooking, foot spa, pedicure and manicure.

According to Climaco, most if not all graduates of her TESDA-assisted vocational training programs have already landed jobs abroad.

Last year, 422 beneficiaries, mostly mothers and youngsters in her district, got similar trainings.
